Two American Whiskey Legends, One Of Them Largely Unknown
Tennessee has two products that are famous around the world – country music from Nashville…
Tom Adkinson got into journalism in part against the counsel of his father, a journalist with many years in newspapers and the Associated Press. His father said the hours are bad and the pay is worse, but his father’s command of the language and his satisfaction with a story told well had more impact. Adkinson has worked for two metropolitan newspapers, was assistant travel editor of Southern Living Magazine, was editor of a regional tourism magazine and has written freelance articles for magazines and newspapers throughout the U.S. He particularly likes stories with a bit of a twist or a spark of humor, such as one about a tiny Nevada town whose high school teams were the Muckers and another about a small town luncheonette that is a tribute to a high-caffeine soft drink called Sundrop, which the owner say mixes well with another local beverage, George Dickel Whiskey.
