What To Look For When You Visit A Mosque

Retiring from the Foreign Service after 36 years and 10 overseas assignments, Chuck Cecil decided that the best way to continue learning about foreign cultures, and to make them better known to American readers, was to make his photographic hobby his second career. Since 2001 he has been following his interest in cultures of the developing world, providing images to textbook publishers, travel magazines, websites, and many other educational uses. Nine of his images have appeared on book covers. Conde Nast Traveler used his images nine times in their Room With a View feature. ASMP selected him as a Photographer of the Year in 2012 for his work photographing daily activities in two Islamic madrasas in northern India. The Society of American Travel Writers awarded him bronze (third place) awards for single subject portfolios of Bali (2016) and Bhutan (2019). About 12,000 of his images are viewable on his website, available for licensing.
