Inducted to both the California Tourism Hall of Fame and the California Outdoors Hall of Fame, John Poimiroo covers lesser-known destinations, sailing, skiing and cycling. He is California’s expert on autumn, having founded and edited CaliforniaFallColor.com. In the 1990s, he was California’s State Tourism Director and knows every corner of the Golden State. A career destination marketer and publicist, John represented such renowned places as Palisades Tahoe (then Squaw Valley USA) and Yosemite National Park. He later was president/CEO of the National Parks Promotion Council. He has received over 70 awards in journalism, photography and marketing, including SATW’s Lowell Thomas Travel Writing and Bill Muster Photo competitions and twice being named California Outdoor Writer of the Year.
